Hello everyone, I'm treehugger. I have been sugaring for 7 years gradually working up the evaporator evolutionary scale over the years. I have have been a member here for 1-2 years, can't quite remember. I came up with the usernme "treehugger" not for political reasons but rather for the way I measure trees. I have adopted a more convservative tapping method over the years. If I can hug a tree and have my fingers touch, it gets 1 tap. If I can't completely hug a tree and have my fingers touch, but are close, 2 taps. If I only can hug half of a tree, 3 taps. So by no means and I a tpyical "treehugger" but I am literally a treehugger.

I am a tree hugger as well...I just hug them with the accumulator arms on my feller-buncher...and I don't like green tea...

Tucker - When No one is looking - I hug my Maple Trees too and thank them for the sweet sap they provide - and like You - I do Not Like Green Tea (My Wife likes it and tells me - at my age I should drink it for all the anti-toxients it provides. So I figure I'll continue to Drink Black Tea or Coffee with a spoon of Maple Syrup or Honey - and take a dose of my Black Elderberry Syrup once in awhile and I shall be just fine ----LOL----Mike

Difference is Eric only hugs his trees once with a feller buncher!

yes one hug from me with the feller buncher, then one hug from the grapple skidder, then one hug from the slasher operator, and finally one hug from the log truck driver.

LOL - So Eric - I mis-read your post ----Bet your maple trees really make lots of sap. Can hear you at the start of the Season on your Bull Horn "Attention all Maple Trees - This is Eric - You will all produce lots of very sweet sap - Or - You will be Flooring - get it?" and thus you are swimming in maple sap --lol--Mike
