View Full Version : Syrup concentrate for making coffee?

A coffeemaker contacted me wanting to know if we sell maple syrup concentrate. She wants to add a shot to some of her coffee products, predicting customers will love the taste. My question is, is she just making up the idea of maple syrup concentrate? Maybe she just needs to buy syrup? If anyone concentrated syrup too far, it would crystallize, so maybe she is buying a fake maple-flavored concentrate and is now looking for the real thing? Just not sure where the idea of concentrate came from.

HEY SUE---I BELIEVE YOU ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION WHEN YOU MENTIONED FAKE CONCENTRATE=---YOU MIGHT PUT HER ON TO REAL MAPLE SUGAR. i DON'T KNOW HOW SHE IS USING IT, BUT EITHER SYRUP, OR SUGAR WOULD BE HER BEST BET.

I put in a healthy shot of of dark amber or grade B in my coffee cup every morning, it tastes great. You can only get real maple flavor from real maple syrup.

I'd make a deal with her. My wife puts syrup in her coffee as well and loves it. I don't drink the stuff so I wouldn't know. I can imagine its better for us then granulated sugar. Maybe it will catch on.

My sister one day saw me putting syrup in my coffee as i always do and commented that it was a gross idea, my father said to her, "just wait till you beloved Starbucks starts offering that as the latest new thing" haha. I realy am kinda surprised the idea hasnt caught on and been offered atleast by some of the fancy coffee joints or restraunts it is very tasty.

I am wondering if she (the coffee shop gal) is thinking of adding just the concentrated sap, like I do when I am boiling. It's awesome and adds an amazing amount of flavor to the cup. Not totally syrup, just sweetened sap from the pans.

I started using maple syrup in my lattes. It and some real vanilla extract in the milk when you foam it, ends up tasting just like marshmallow :)

I agree with the others who just put it in their coffee. Syrup is already a concentrate, and even just a little in a coffee drink would give it enough flavor, especially B grade. I put some in mine whenever I feel like some sweetener, and I love it. I have used it to convert many non-coffee drinkers to regular consumers.
Its good in tea as well.
When we are boiling "flu tea" is where its at. Just pull it right out of the syrup pan. The only advantage in my mind to a drop flue is that drain pipe for boiling water.

Tell her that maple syrup IS a concentrate. She can put a pump top on it and put the shot in like her FAKE flavorings.
She might need to delute it with distilled water if your syrup is too thick for her pumper?
