View Full Version : Labels on Sap Buckets

Do any of you put any kind of markings or labels on your sap buckets? I have the opportunity to tap a property outside of my neighborhood for the first time. It's in a high traffic, high visibility location.
I thought someone might see the buckets and be interested in having some in their yard. A sticker would be easiest, but figure it's just going to get trashed when I wash the buckets each year. Then I thought if I put time into a stencil, I could paint something on, but carving out words and a phone number could be a bear.
Any ideas?

I have seen several producers put stencils with their farm's name on them, etc. I personally do not do it, but I have seen it done. Also have seen buckets with two different colors on them (like red and green) so that once you empty a bucket you put it with the other color out so that way you have a visual cue that you have collected that bucket. You could incorporate that with the stencil of the farm's name.

Sean - I stencil my roadside buckets, barrels, labels and signs as advertising/branding. Simple but eye catching. Bruce

The best bet would be a "Sharpie" marker, with two different markings

Bruce,
That looks cool. Did you use spray paint? I guess it doesn't wash off then?

Sean - Cardboard stencil and can of spray paint. Wash and stack my buckets, tanks at the end of the season, hasn't even scratched. I'll post a pic of one of my barrel covers when I have a chance. B
