SO I am planning to start building a steam hood next week hopefully and I want to get aluminum stack does bascom's sell just the stack by it self I am gonna give them a call tomorrow as I am putting in an order but I was just wondering if anyone knew if they did or not. Its not a tight fitting stack it will be set above the evap but don't wanna use Galv. stack because I don't know if it contains lead or not I am guess no anymore but just wanna use aluminum and everything I have found is either insulated flexible and no bigger than 4 inch inner diameter. any help would be great.

Go to Mcmaster- Carr online they will have what you need, or you can get it at Total Air supply in Nashua, NH. Good luck Lee

2 4 inch stacks make an 8 inch stack thats what i used for steam stack on my 2x8
Do you mean that you put 2 split 4" pipes together to make one 8" stack?

4 plus 4 does not make 8. look at it this way. 1/2 inch mainline is meant for less than 50 taps. so 2 half inch mainlines is 100 taps. Not the 500 taps that 1 inch is reccomended for. Just throwing that out there.

I think what he is saying is that he took two 4" pipes that go together like stove pipe and made them into one 8" pipe, not that he is running two individual 4" pipes.

Gotcha. Makes sense now. But I would do the math before splitting into 2 pipes.

Hi Red Maples, How did the hood project go for you? Looking to do the same thing. I called a friend at Prototeck and he says that they could build one for under half the price in the books. So I might go that way. Keith
