I went to a field day a few weeks back and the specialist mentioned that syrup can be made after the leaves fall off in the fall. Normally we wouldn't have enough days to make it worth while, but this fall/early winter it seems we would have here in north central Ohio. Just curious if anyone takes advantage of any type of early sugaring? Is it worth trying?

Very interesting idea, excited to more on this myself. I have noticed sap dripping from broken limbs in the Fall on several occasions. Sugarsand

Most people avoid fall tapping because of stressing the trees a second time in the year and usually the fall run is short, plus everything has to be cleaned again-yuk!

If you log on to Proctor's Research and then type in FALL TAPPING they have a real good article on this. Well worth reading.
