Finally! could use a little winter and colder temps! They're predicting up to a foot. 2012 might be letting us know winter has arrived!

I know what you mean... winter up here in far Northern MN has been anything but winter. No below zero temps, plowed the driveway for the first time all year yesterday, lots of 30 degree and even 40 degree temps. Looks like we may finally start getting some winter weather this week. Of course the warm winter has not been too bad - really saving on the heat bill - maybe saved enough for more syrup equipment?? :)

Here in NW WI the snow started last night and it's still coming down, although very lightly. Probably a good 6" and forcast for some blowing. -10* for tomorrow night. YAHOO!

Hey Christopher... we never did get all that snow they called for; most we've had up here is 2" so far this year.
I have no idea what to expect this year - but side bet is that we get hammered by early Feb.
Got all my wood cut and ready to go - bring it on...

4th year tapping, 4 taps the first year ,40 taps last year.Block arch and catering pans. Want to go 80-90 this year. I have 20 taps in Eastlake 20 more in Perry. All the neighbors want me to tap there trees now. Still in the process of planing to build an evaporator. A lot of choices on building one still undecided on a plan, converted oil tank or frame. Son in law coming over Sunday to draw up the plans. One or two days to put it all together.
