2011-2012 Season

[Maple Hobo]

Been looking like tapping season weather...

Just for fun I tapped a couple stand alone trees we don't use for the sugar camp.
I used some Leader sani-taps and milk jugs...lol
Had over 1/2 gallon water from just a couple hours this evening.

Hope this season goes more normal, but the weather this year is odd.

Yes it is Maple Hobo. I hope we actually get SOME cold and snow. At this rate it will just go into summer. How odd to say NOOOOO!

I did the same yesterday. Two 5/16 bucket taps. I only hung one bucket. Today I looked and had 1/2 gal. from the one tap. Sugar content was 1.5 and 1.7. That is not that bad for me. If I ever tapped early, this would have been the year to do it. Too bad I don't have my vacuum pump back together. If someone snooped around NE Ohio, I bet someone is making syrup.

I was widening trails awhile ago and cut some small reds and sugars. I posted this somewhere else but the reds were around 1.4 - 1.7 and the sugars were 2.4. It's been the perfect tapping weather for sometime now here. I'm hoping for some winter weather soon to!
