Has anyone tried mixing coal with their wood to boil syrup?
It is still pretty cheap per ton and was wondering if anyone has tried this with any success...

Try it//Put it in your drawoff side and pound the wood to the other side-then give us a 7 page report on it. Thanks,

SWM, Unless you are going to boil for 10 or 12 hours straight I don't think it would be worth your effort. Coal does make for a nice even and steady heat. Pulvrized coal blown into the fire box burns very hot and completely. To do it that way would cost some bucks.
