Cleanong filter press

I have a filter press that is not aluminum , I think it is cast but any way I was wondering how to keep it from rusting. Is there a paint out there that I could use ? The out side is looking rusty too so what should I do? Thanks Philip

You could try rubbing the outside of the plates with bees wax while the plates are hot. This is a technique blacksmiths use to keep their iron products from rusting.
