Lots of people do it - but doesn't leaving dial thermometers on the evaporator during the off season tweak the internals? We get winter temps down to -40. I know there is a set screw on the back of the thermometer to correct it, but don't those extreme low temps mess it up? I would think the sensitive spring inside would not react well to being wound backwards out of range.
