Have a chance to buy new, unused for substantially less than the list price....if it will work, I may buy it even if I don't use it this year....looked at the specs on the link but not sure what I need to see in specs to know if this will work (I know, I know, that's why I'm asking BEFORE I buy....)...also, I realize I will need a releaser and other sundries but was focussed on this part of the system for the moment...

Thanks!

This is a pressure blower---It is not a vacuum pump

Well, I was confused as the manufacturers literature showed diagrams of a number of uses, including use for a milk vacuum/collection system...hmmm, maybe I'll call the company and discuss...

Thanks for the response.

Reading the specs, it is only rated at 150 CFM @10" vacuum. The 150 is good, but without a spec at maple vac levels I think it is not good for maple. Many beginners use old dairy pumps and get 18-22" vacuum depending on type and cooling/lubrication. I use 2 rotary vane Alamo pumps that are made for 15" but I ran one at 18" last year and will run a second one this year at 20". If you find a Surge SP11 or SP22, many go to 22", some higher.
On a tight system you can figure 1 CFM/100 taps. Keeping the system as leak free as possible is a must.
I would not spend that much on a pump that is only spec'ed to 10" vacuum. You have no idea what you would get at 20" or more. If it was good for 20" they would have that in the specs. It might give nothing at 20"

I got a gast pump for 100 on eBay which is good for about 500 taps and I got a bender milk releaser for 50 that I think could handle 300 taps at most

It says 10 inches of water vacuum which is way less than inches of mercury

yeah depending on how many taps go old...Cheaper and they are pretty common on here. ...bb2, bb4, or sp11 sp22 something like that the bigger of either model can get you as high as 900 taps at 20+ " Hg vacuum for $4-600 depending. just keep and eye out.

thanks!.....now of course comes rthe questoin of the other parts ofthe vaccum system....is there a manual out there or something that diagrams and describes (for dummies...) the components in the system and how to put together (as well as how NOT to put together...)?

Thanks - this forum, and all of the members, are so helpful!
