Mother nature has been so kind to me i think I will put the roof on my sugar house this weekend so that she can send some snow this way. I can't believe i haven't had to shovel it out not a once. What happens to our season if it doesn't snow??

There will always be a season, we just have to sit back and see how long it lasts.

next best bet would be felt paper.

Great looking sugar house.
We built ours last tear and used tar paper over plywood under the corrugated metal roof. Working out great so far.

Thats what i was thinking tar paper or felt paper havn't herd any reason not to use tar paper.

felt paper is the way to go, it"s cheep. You can even install it up and down instead of sideways( don"t have to walk on it that way). So was there any more disscusion about north to south vs east to west. :)

you should at least use felt paper,if you are worried about walking on it and it tearing it use 30lb instead of 15lb. i would not run it up and down because your tin is going to "sweat" alot and the moisture will get in between the seams, may not be a big deal now but in 15yrs you wish you had. not trying to be a know it all but i sell building materials for a living and have seen alot of rotten roofs. ice and water shield is the best but about $50-60 a roll for 2-sq vs $18-20 a roll for 30lb felt 2sq.

I put my steel directly on the wood purlins, it rained inside often the 1st year. Then I made a steam hood and no more rain.

I just built mine like a barn, rough cut on the joists and covered it with metal roof.

"roof gaurd" comes in a 5 ft roll and installs much easier than felt or bitethane ( grace) although it is a little more expesive than felt its a nice product to work with, and will not tear or shrink like felt we used it on quite few jobs.

Using grace triflex for underlayment new product very lite and east to work with they claim you could leave it on for a year with no roofing on it and it was actually cheaper then buying felt. Staples down just like felt comes in a 4 ft roll that is 1000 sq. feet equals 5 rolls of felt.

Got my first draw in the new sugar house and saw a snowy owl sitting in the cow pasture. Freind said he read something about them coming south because of a leming shortage it was huge as big as an ospray
