Which is the best for insulating an arch? I want the heat in not out. The ceramic appears to have a higher temperature rating.
Thanks, Craig

I just did a fair amount of research on this topic and here is my understanding of how it works. 2'' ceramic board is the best, however, using it for my 2 X 4 would have cost somewhere around $750. One inch is still very costly. Ceramic blanket is good, but it is expensive plus it's tricky to install vertically with firebrick. Green wool arch board, which I purchased from Bascom's, is okay. It is very easy to work with, cuts with a razor knife, and is relatively inexpensive. Inch by 1 foot by 3 foot boards are $8.75.
It all boils down to how much do you want to spend.
