Preheater angle

I'm building a preheater and steam hood for my evaporator. I have all my copper dry fitted together ready to solder. But before I do, I wanted to know how much of a rise or angle should I incorporate into my setup. I was thinking of 3 to 4 inches in rise over 30 inches.

That sounds good. Your trying to get the sap to rise up each pipe at the same rate. If there is no rise the sap could short circuit i one pipe.

yes 3-4 inches of rise in 30 inch run should be good. Consider a vent at the high point.
