I was talking to my neighbor about tapping his trees but he is a naturalist so he wants the woods cleaned up for at least the summer months which means the tubing can not be left on the trees year round and he wants it to be quiet. What vaccum options do I have that are quiet? How do we set up a good system that can be taken down every year but still be efficent as far as gal/tap?

I would think any tubing system that would justify vacuum would be at least 125 taps. Some would probably think that is still too few. And the prospect of putting up and taking down a tubing system of that size yearly to me is not practical. the cdl rapid flex that doesn't require wire might be an option. If you have some pitch you could run some long 5/16ths runs with a lot of taps per run and hope for natural vacuum.

After you put that tubing up and take it down you won;t want to do it again. Running tubing is a rewarding thing when done right and having to take it down sucks after one season. As for the quiet issue maybe you could look into an electric sap sucker?
