??? where to get surge sp22 parts, info, specs, manual ???

Trying to rebuild a sp22 pump and can not seem to find any place to get parts or a manual with torque specs and such. Any one out here know of a website or a past thread with any info? anything would be greatlly appreciated.

I have a manual for an sp11 ...might have some stuff in there on the sp22. Will look when I get home tonight

that sounds great, thank you for your time. just went out to the garage and tried to turn the drive pulley be cause the pump is stuck. put oil on top of pistons last night. it turned over really nice. must not of been stuck too bad, the cylinder walls look really good. may take less parts than i thought.

I have the sp-11 manual in pdf form. its for the sp-11, but I think there is some usefull stuff on it about surge piston pumps in general. PM me with your email and I will forward it on to you. Its a scanned copy from an old document, so its a little hard to read in a few places.

Don't want to go off subject to much but about how many CFMs can a sp22 pull and what is about the max inches they can pull at those CFMs?

I asked that a while ago no one seems to know what the cfms are for those older model dairy pumps. I think they discontinues those back in what the 30-40's not sure but I know it was some time ago. they don't even make new parts for them. they are just work horses!!! that are worth every penny for the smaller prducer!!!

I typically run my sp-11s around 20-22" (measured at the releaser)

I think the sp-11 is rated around 4 or 5 cfm at 15", and if you look at the graph that Steve Child's had on his vacuum system webinar when you get about 20" it drops again- not quite in half, but its drops off pretty good. I've run an sp-11 on up to 300 taps, but this year that bush will have closer to 400 taps so I am in the market for a sp-22. They are rated for roughly twice what an sp-11 is- like 9 or 10 cfm at 15". as a result, I have an sp-11 pump head for sale...

are you cooling that sp-11 at all when running it at 21"?

No fan on the sp11s that run on gas motors but when we did have one that ran on electric we did put a box fan on it. I use Parkers spit sizzle test to see if it is too hot- spit on the dome above the valve and if it sizzles than its too hot.

I have run the sp-22 on 1000 taps and have 22" at the last tap..the pulley on the pump head is kind of a fan. It is very important to run moter oil in these pumps, not vacuum pump oil (to thin)...I also mix in a little bar and chain oil when the weather starts to warm up.....running these pumps at high vac. (above 18") is definatly pushing them very hard...I did blow one up last year...

I run rotella 15-40 in mine. This is a heavy duty diesel motor oil. I was told the same thing about vacuum pump oil.

I use air compresser oil in my bb2 seems to work really good. I pull average 22" and can put my hand on it for about 30 seconds. I change the oil once a week. or slightly less on long 36+ hour runs.

I use Hydraulic oil in my sp 11. Haven't had any trouble with heat, and pull 23" to 24" at the releaser. As for cfm's on these pumps, the sp11 are 5.5 cfm and the 22's are 11 cfm pumps. I am unsure what the bb series pumps are but could probably find out. These in my opinion are good pumps. If patient you can pick them up cheap too, around the $100 to $150 dollar range.
