My growth into a vacuum system was relatively slow over the last 4 years, and while starting out
there was so much to spend money on that every time I went to the sugar makers candy store
ie equipment dealer, I always stopped short of buying a tubing tool. I made up as much as I could in
the living room and then went to the bush with a couple thermos bottles of hot water. A quick dip
softened the ends and they pushed on relatively easily. There's more than one of us on the Trader
that use this technique.

Well this Friday I broke down and bought a two handed tubing tool. After 1 day in the bush with it
I can say that it is no faster than my old method

BUT

with the old method, if I didn't like the way a connection was lining up, it was easy to twist
the tube on the fitting to make it set the way I wanted it. Not any more. The fit on the cold pressed
joint is so tight I have to put vise grips on the tubing to twist it. The fit is MUCH MUCH tighter.
I expect it will result in more that one or two less leaks.

If you're using the hot water dunk method, like I was, give it another thought.
