I am going to start building my new sugar shack tomorrow provided the lumber gets here before noon. Going to build a 30x40x10 pole building 4/12 pitch roof green and tan steel the whole way around. Hope to get in built in the next week or so so that I can get the concrete poured before it gets too cold. Once I get the floor poured I am going to lay a new base for my pans out of brick. Gonna keep me busy for a couple weeks hopefully done by christmas. Any major things I should take into account as I build. I read about putting plywood or boards on my roof under the steel but I have a hood that covers my evaorator but sits 2 ft above the pans.

just my two cents worth .you might want to investigate the use of tyvec and double bubble insulation on the perlings between the perlings and metal roofing .this will stop the moisture from rusting out the metal and last a lot longer . i build pole barns ,free stall barns all the time and started useing this combination a few years ago and everybody has given me good reports back .it will give you about a r-13 insulation value and stops the condensation from contacting the metal roofing.any questions please feel free to call me at 315-528-3676.

Well I did not take the advice on putting something between the metal roofing and the trusses and now it's pouring down rain inside my building!! My hood is not completely finished I know that wil help out some but any other ideas to help stop the rain! My wife won't even come out and talk until I get it fixed! I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing but either way I really screwed up on this one!

I placed styrofoam insulation between the rafters, and this did the trick. We still got some condensation. and a few drips, but not like a rain forest which is what you are probably experiencing.
