Looks like a shooter. Go get em.

I took a doe on Saturday morning. She ended up being 5 1/2 years old. A bit on the skinny side at 105lbs

I have seen one deer so far hunting this year. I have no idea if there is actually deer around or not.My first year hunting here in Quebec and I really don't have anyplace to hunt yet except on my own land. Used to be lots of deer here but the last year has been slim pickings.

Seen deer today for the first time. But no bucks. Might have to wait till muzzle loader season for a doe. One week left but this thing called work gets in the way. For some reason I don't get holidays where I work.

Bow season lasts untill some times in DEC. don't remember exactly, muzzle loader is now and shot gun starts wed. so looking froward to that. gotta shoot a little tomorrow maybe!!! Right now you can only use muzzle loader but if you choose to you can use your muzzle loader straight through shotgun if you wish. I never got my muzzle loader permit. might do that in the next few years. my brother and dad did but I just never took the test.

What you have to take a test in NH to be able to hunt with muzzle loader? Man i thought that was the "live free or Die" state.

Here in pa you go in and pa $5 extra for the muzzle loading stamp. I will often hunt regular season with my muzzle loader. In the mountains shots over 150 yards are rare and with my inline i can shoot a milk jug at 150. Plenty accurate enough for any deer around here.

This is what I've got this year. Got him up in Madison NH Oct 20th (thursday of moose season). Hanging weight was 850 at the check station. I'm headed up to Milan friday to get the meat. Had to scramble for another freezer. I've been applying for years and this is my first permit. The wife was up to the 3rd alternate last year, I wish she'd have gotten a permit, cause it would have been a great pic at 8 months pregnant.
Anyway I was following him on and off for 4 days. Finally caught with him on a railroad track between a swamp. He was lying down looking the other way, walked about a 1/2 a mile in. He got up when I was about 125 yards off. Put 3 9.3x62 260grain bullets into him, he was asleep with his butt on the left rail, died on the right rail.
A friend of a friend knew a guy with a tractor who pulled him out in exchange for 1/2 a gallon of syrup which was my best syrup sale ever.

I just never took the course in NJ. which is were I am from. you have to take a separate course for what ever you hunt with NJ.

You don't have a stupid sheep that follows you out in the woods. I can't tell which are deer tracks and which is sheep tracks anymore. The cat does follow once in a while also but he's pretty good compared to the sheep.Haven't had a deer in the yard since I got her.

This is the 3rd Buck like this that I have got in 4 years. I am not a trophy hunter by any means, I take the first legal buck. I have not seen any of those bucks prior to the season. I believe they are on the move and came in from somewhere else. I am just lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time.

My youngest daughter Emma (11 yrs) got her button buck first day of NH muzzleloader season and I got this lightweight on opener of rifle season. 9 point, 19 inch inside spread, and 202#. NH F&G biologist said he was 6 1/2 years old! 14 yr old daughter is going tomorrow to see if that same stand is good for 3 bucks in 2011!

Congrats to Emma. Great job.

Congrats to you too. You don't see them that old around here very often. Do you have any other pictures of the rack?

You should be very proud of your girls.

Pete, I'm very proud of them both! Em has tagged 2 in 2 years hunting with me. Hannah kinda got into high-school things and not really into the hunting like she used to be. (especially the 5 am part!) We'll try again tomorrow. I think the prying out of bed is actually harder than getting the deer to come by! I didn't really get any good pics of mine. This was the first one to really get my heart pounding in about 5-6 years. Brain kinda went to jelly when I walked up to it. It did go to the taxidermist, so I will have better pics around the end of sugar season. This is probably the best I took of the rack, but it really dosn't do the deer justice.

I understand the growing up and other interest think. My 12year old daughter is our youngest. Very social to say the least.
She always wants to go turkey hunting. Problem is dad can't find any birds. lol

I still dream about my kids hunting with me. My boys are 19 and 21.

You're a very lucky man. Hope Hannah knocks one down tomorrow.
