divided rear pan ?

I have a 2.5 x 8 its got a 2.5x2.5 factory cross flow front pan the rear pan is homemade with a zig zag up in down for the rear pan set up like a raised flew. The rear pan is not divided how important do you think it is to have dividers in the back?

Twitch, you would be able to operate the rig the way it is but you would get a much better gradient with a lenghtwise divider. It does not need to be anywhere near watertight. You could get by if you just placed a strip of metal in the pan and clamped or jammed it in somehow. All you want to do is make it so the sap doesn't have a direct path from inlet to outlet.
