stupid question but....Which is the inlet and which is the out let on the Delaval pump heads?

There should be an arrow somewhere on the pump case,,will tell you proper rotation,,turn the pump over the correct way with your hand over one of the pipes at a time,,the one that sucks is the inlet,,seems like that would work?

another stupid question... if you run the pump backwards will it still produce vacuum just with the inlet and outlet switched?

Thanks for the info. I only asked about direction of use due to the fact that my pump is currently running opposite of what was explained and is producing 18-20 inches of mercury. I was concerned about the pump.
