I think We've gotten far enough to post some pictures. About 90% done. still need to finish the gables and put in a window and door. She and I did most of this from the ground up. It was fun putting on the whole roof by myself while she went to Cali. Oh well, she lets me go to canada to fish.

Now I just need to finish the evaporator and get it moved in. Also going to do some scroll work and put windows in the gables. we're in a hollow and get about 6 hrs of sun a day in the winter so need all the light we can get. Oh, also put doors on the cupola. and the stack. and block floor for the evap. anything else?

Link shows the whole progression. No power yet so I used a generator, a jigsaw for almost every cut, and a cordless drill and sawzall, and a hammer. This is the biggest building I've ever done. practice for a house down there.

Looks like it's coming along nice! You will love being in a building. How flat is that porch roof? Are you OK for snow load?

I know the porch roof is something I'll have to watch. It has 3 1/2 in slope from back to front, 1 - 2x4 width. I wanted to put that window in because I don't have power there yet and couldnt raise the window because of the width of it. We don't really get the lake effect snow that NE Ohio and western Pa get. Usually 1 or 2 really good snows a year and the occasional 10 in storm. I'll just have to keep the snow off as much as possible.

The side roof braces are also built back into the top of the side walls, so it's not just nailed into the front of the building. It looked okay when I was building it. Next time I build something big I think I'll use plans.
