Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the world record for seasonal production off a 2x6 evaporator, with or without a steamaway, and Ro?
Also the total number of taps. I know some folks are staying small and boiling long hours still. I've heard that are a few out there doing 2,000 taps with RO. Thanks.

caseyssugarshack. he finally up graded to a bigger evap but for a few years he was running something like 2000 taps with an RO on a 2x6. I boiled close to 4000 gallons of sap on my 2x6 last year over 100hrs boiling time on 300 taps. average time was around 7 hrs boiling I think. russ lampron has close to 600 taps I think mostly on vacuum and he broke 200 gallons syrup last year on 2x6 with RO. I wouldn't reccomend anymore than 3-350 taps with a stock 2x6 unless you REEAAALLLYYYY like boiling and have people to switch off with so you can take a break.(althoug its good for loosing weight even when drinking lots of boiling soda) I don't plan on expanding until I can afford a sugarhouse addition and an RO. Gonna start looking into Grants and such now for the 2013 season maybe. but at least the addition will be done by then.

Well Jim,
It sounds like you had a pretty good year. I made 660 off 1740 taps.

I made 275 gallons last season from 640 taps on vacuum and 100 buckets. I could have made a little more but my RO membrane plugged up and I ran out of wood on the last weekend that we had sap.

I have a Lapierre 150 RO and Algier 2x6 raised flue evaporator. I have a big blower on the arch and a steamhood with preheater on the flue pan. I need to upgrade the RO so that I can handle more taps. I have enough trees to add another 500 plus taps when I can handle the extra sap.
