So I've decided I need to step up to a filter press and am looking at Daryl's 5" press with hand pump and the Wesfab 7" press. Price seems to be pretty comparable. From what I can tell, they both use the same hand pump but the 7" offers an electric upgrade. Unless there are more differences internally that I don't know about, they look about the same except that Wesfab uses cast plates and Daryl uses machined plates. The machined plates look prettier but is there a difference or do they leak less? I'm guessing the 7" will allow more filtering before the filters plug because they use larger filters. Is there anything I am missing here? What does everyone think or any experienced advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

I plan on getting Daryl's press minus the hand pump. I was able to score a gear pump an an auction for $5 so i am going to use that.

One other thing to consider, is the wesfab a short bank? Compare apples to apples. Daryl's is a full bank that is adjustable to filter through as many plates as you need depending on how much syrup you are doing. I have Daryl's and when I'm refiltering just a small amount, I only use one or two plates and use the full bank when I'm filtering right off the evaporator.
