Mineral Wool

Hi all..I have 1 inch Mineral Wool to line my 2x6 home made evaporator. I would think the weight of the fire bricks will flatting it out.Will 1 inch roofing nails work ?Am thinking of putting nails at 3 inch centers with the head down.My fire bricks are 12x12x2.Any one see a problem with this? Does anyone have a better idea for keeping the insulation from beind flattend under the weight of the fire bricks? Still thinking 1" roofing nails will work. Thanks Vernon

do the walls on your firebox flare out as they go up or are they vertical like some of the newer Leader evaporators? If they are vertical I don't think you will get too much compaction. Curious why the mineral wool and not arch board or insulating blanket?
