Hi Folks,
I'm looking for this type of spout (see photo). It is an old LAMB 7/16" spout with tubing fittings on the top and bottom, formerly sold by Leader Evaporator Co. They haven't been made for a real long time. We have a research project we'd like to do, and need to get several hundred of them. New would be ideal, but used is OK too.
If you have some of these you'd like to sell me, please email Timothy.Perkins@uvm.edu or send me a PM (Private Message).
Thanks,

We used to have tons of those! They were used for our gravity lines before we knew not to vent them. When we ran short of vacuum spiles a red-hot pair of pliers and a blow torch made them almost air tight! I'm sure we got rid of the last bunch of ours a few years ago.

Dr. Tim,
I have some of these and some are still in use because the CV's fit on them, I'll try to get a count for you after this weekends festival and hopefully we can do a swap for new blue spiles same size from Leader.

ahhhhhhh the memories of those taps. Wish i could help you out Doc, We used them back in the late 80's or early 90's. After a few seasons the plastic nipples got so brittle they would break so easy we got rid of them. Thanks for posting the picture of maple innovations from years past though.
I am interested in hearing what the test will be. Old taps vs new>?

Hold on to them for now. May contact you later.
For those wondering what this is for, we generally don't discuss research in progress much, so please hold off on questions until the middle of next April. Thanks. :)

My money's on a wet/dry lateral line system. The bottom of the spout goes to the wet line, the top to the dry lateral line.
Can't wait for more details and results!
