We need a good way to dispense syrup from drum & pails. I understand the air pressure dispenser is a good way to go. Does anyone use a little electric pump?

same as Paul- I use the gear pump from my filter press. I stick a 4" section of 1/2" stainless pipe on the end of the suction line that goes in to the keg and the only other change is to move the outlet line from the press to the outlet port of the pump.

Are you saying out of drum into pail. First is it filtered enough that sediment isn't a problem. If you don't want to disturb I would pump from the top with a gear pump because its cold. If its clear I would get a drum rack the kind you use like a dolly it hooks to the drum and allows you to tilt the drum onto its side and let gravity do the work. Put a ball valve into the big port and vent the small one. Are you going to reheat to sterile before you bottle. Bacteria can and will enter the drum however you remove the syrup.

If you don't have a pump ...(I don't):() so this is what I do. Take piece of clear food grade hose put a ball valve on the end, fill the hose with syrup to (make sure the valve is closed ) Raise the barrel some how. then put one end in the barrel and the other end in the pail and open the valve it will siphen right out. this is easier if your syrup is room temp if not its a little challenging and alot slower!! but it works!!! once you get down to a managable weight in the barrel you can lean it forward and pour out the rest.
I built a unit similar to Leaders for using air but mine is pvc.

I just siphon it out. On the end of the hose that goes in the barrel I clamp on a piece fo rigid plastic so it extends about 2" below the end of the hose. This stops it from going to the bottom to pick up the the nitre that has settled.
Not fast, but it works.
