Totally new to tubing this next year, got permission to tap a fenceline about 500 ft long 30-50 ft wide. Planning on running 5/16 tubing from trees right to 55 gallon barrels. There would be 4 seperate collection points along the fenceline. Would one of those star fittings plumbed into the top lid of the barrel work? Also, what would the minimun slope for lines going to the collection point be? For the most part, the land is flat along the whole fenceline.

If you use a star fitting how are you going to keep the slack taken up between trees and the barrrel? You still want tight lines to keep the sap flowing. Last year we ran roadside trees on tubing 5/16 about 10 trees per barrel. I used a blind hook and a blind t on the top end, and a slide fitting on a wire wrapped around the anchor tree next to the barrel. this year we are going to place this system on a wire with the tension wheel and at least 1/2 in mainline and saddle fittings at the tree with a harness with the spiles. Good luck

Forgot more info. work with the slope of the land we laid our barrels on there side and a 100 ft runs only needed a 2 foot rise for good flow no taps were higher than 6 ft off the ground
