Just got word that the 357xp production era has come to a end. The new 562xp is going to replace it. Originally i was told Husqvarna was going to produce both saws that has since changed. any one who wants a 357 should consider buying one soon because whats in the warehouses is it for a legendary firewood saw. The 562xp looks like a good replacement with about the same weight and a little more hp, the same (14500 to 15000 max) rpm range, but it always makes me nervous when someone tries to fix something thats not broken.

i had to retire my 372 xp last season. i was pretty tor up. best saw i have ever used, let alone owned. i almost had a funeral for her i was so tor up. anyways, i still want an xp but have not purchased one yet. looks like it is time to move. xyz5150, i do not understand why they have to change it up. the 372 was also discontinued. they had a good, no great thing and ended it.

I belive the 372 was replaced with the 576 both xps. I purchased the 576 two years ago and it has worked well for me. I run a 24in. bar on it and it handles it without any problem. Also have a Stihl 446 Mag. Good saw did have to rebuild it at a year old but is still a work horse.Being a logger they have both been worked and I can't say I would want to pick between the two.As a side note "smitty" I think the dealer here in Greenwich might still have couple of brand new 372s left.He bought a bunch when they discontinued them. If you are intristed I can check.

What did you do with the 372xp when you retired it?

Most of the 300-series Husky line was great. I run a rebuilt and pumped up 362 here on the farm. Had a 266 and 272 before that and those were great. I've got a 350 at work that's a dog. That's why i say MOST of the line was good. Work just started getting Stihl 310 saws and I'm pretty impressed so far. I think those are 59cc and seem to handle well.

The 372 didn't go away its still in production but thanks to our epa the 372 was updated to a new epa compliant ( x-torq ) clynder. It gained a little weight and lost a little top end power but its still a darn good saw. It amazes me what the epa is doing to our little handheld 2 cycle engines, i mean thay are going after a tool that on a good day might burn 1 gallon of fuel, and as i write this post who knows how many semi's are driving past my office on I-69 burning a pint to a quart of fuel per mile, go figure.

You sure about that? Stock specs on the 365 is 65.1cc. 71cc would be the 371/372.

sorry for the delay greenwich, let me talk to my finacail adviser and see if she is good with this. Been crazy here with all of the flood clean up. I was so furtunate to have no damage and thank god for that. alot of the community has lost everything, some have even been condemed. so many needs, not enough time.

Russell, i still have it and just last week talked to a guy about rebuilding it.

This is my next saw. It's the 346 e-tec. Lightweight and powerful, but safe.

And it doesn't make a lot of stink. I want it.

Last winter I did an Ebay rebuild on miy 372xp. Jug, piston, rings, bearings and gaskets. I think it was less than $200. Piston was 50 over so now it is better than new. Only thing I have done to it since new I think in '06.

You and me both. I have a virtually new Stihl 290 Farm Boss but grabbed a friends 346xp to tryout on some big oak the other day and was amazed at the comfort and effortlessness of this saw. At first glance you would think "no way" but it sure seems to be the real deal. 2-3 pounds lighter makes a quite a difference.

I know it 's not really fair to compare a homeowners saw vs. a pro saw but I really think 95% of people could get by with this as their one saw that performs all tasks.

I had run that size stihl for years. That is the heaviest saw in it's class but will run for ever. I would not use it for comparison. I now run a 372xp. Same wieght power head as 290 and way more power. I would not want less than a 70cc saw after having a 372.

I knew it was an unfair comparison, I was just caught by surprise this little saw had that much juice. I only need to cut 2-4 cord a yr. for both the house and sapping but if I thought I could get anything reasonable on a trade or what have you I'd make the move......... the wife never checks the shed anyway, I'd be golden.:D

If you think a stock 346 is fast you need to see one after we have it ported and polished. Porting and polishing adds about 25% more HP to the 346.:D:D:D

You want to wake up that Farm Boss? All you need to do is drill some holes in the muffler to let it breath. You have to remove the limiter caps on the mixture screws so that you can tune the carb afterward. It makes it so that you can push the saw into a cut without it slowing down.

This is good info I will be getting a new saw soon the poulan's motors are just way too small and cutting up 17+ cords of wood a year from pine to Big Oak, felling trees etc. I need a better saw. It was what I could afford at the time:( will going huskv or stihl. I use a stihl E-140 for ice carvings(electric) and I have used it for years and Ice really takes its toll on the motor. if you use a little box store POS you get 3-4 carvings out of it and it and the motor dies!!! We'll see what we have for money come next summer!!! Hoping for a good mapleweek end!!! :)

Yesterday 09:22 AM You can drill holes in the muffler to increase HP, but size and location is the key. Remember a 2 cycle needs back pressure to run properly. All of my saws have a extra exhaust port at the furthest point away from the exhaust port in the cylinder. A extra exhaust port increases HP some but the best benefit is it reduces engine temperature. Don't mention removing the limit caps, believe it or not its against the law at least it is for us dealers.
