I am just about ready to raise a small 12x16 timber frame sugar shack and am looking for advice for the design of the cupola. I have a 2x4 Mason evaporator. The roof rafters are 4' OC. And really I'm just a hobbyist...I might max out at 24 to 30 taps.
Is a 4' long cupola adequate for my needs?
I am a little unclear about how to flash this with a metal roof? The flashing must be attached up all 4 sides of the cupola (under the shiplap), but must then sit on top of the metal roof, correct?
Am I correct in assuming that the flashing must me kept slightly high off of the purlins to accomodate the height of the ribs of the metal roof?
First time at this and I' don't want to botch anything.
Thanks in advance.
