I am more than a little concerned about this storm coming this weekend. Addition to the sugarhouse is sided only on the south end so far. (lucky) should the wind (70mph sustained winds) get under there it will take off like an airplane. Last conversation I had w/ insurance agent notified me if I had sold 1 gallon of syrup I was now considered a commercial opperation and no longer covered under homeowners policy. I strongly suggest any sugarmakers who think they are covered under their homeowners policy to double-check things before this weekend. Good luck and hang on to your shorts!

I have business Liab. INS. which covers building and all equipment and product sold people coming on my property etc. I have homeowners + Umbrella + some extra thing too. No flood ins. though (too expensive) unless my sump pump breaks down then I get extra money. Sugarhouse stood up just fine during the wind storm a few years back 70-90 mph winds. I just hope I don't loose too many trees. I guess then I will just have more firewood!!!

the wind will be coming from the east with a hurricane ( then changing to from the north). You have to be east of a hurricane to get wind from the south from it.

if no flood ins, but covered by fire, 2+2=4

It looks like all of the apple orchards around here will only be making cider from the drops.

Fallen apples are sold for deer bait by the truck load around here. That and you can buy 700 pound of carrots in a big bag.
The forecast calls for rain here but not much for wind but who believes a weather forecast.

You would be covered from all the wind damage from the hurricane which is a likely culprit unless you get a lot of rain. As mentioned earlier, unless you have a separate flood policy, flooding is not covered.

man what a day when i looked up a saw water coming through field to my house my heart skipped. I was a lucky one water stop 30' from back door. ground water pushing up into basement but keeping that at bay rt now. need to buy a new pump had to pull out the sap pump to save the basement. To all who were involved in this I now know how it feels to see it first hand. I hear a lot of states got hit hard especially VT but good luck and lets all join together help others out. I would rather put up with 2' water in basement then have it all go down the river
