My wife's cousins are over from London 'on holiday'.
We served them pancakes with maple syrup and they loved it.
Curiously, they don't usually (if ever) have pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes are enjoyed once a year, on 12th Night.
Last week we were on Cape Cod with them and had breakfast. They ordered pancakes, but since I don't travel with my own stash of real syrup, they had to settle for the fake corn syrup version. Rather than destroy perfectly fine pancakes with that stuff, they did what they do in England: they squeezed lemon juice all over the pancakes. (The waitress didn't know what to make of it).
I tried some and it was pretty good. (But maple is better)...
