I was looking at getting an RO this year and found a 2003 Lapierre 600 that was factory refurbished and still in the plastic wrap. Should I be carefull with buying an older one because some seals may be dry rotted or is that not a concern.
Thanks Sam

there is some things to watch for the plastic rap thats on it dont help with performance. What you should be more concerned with is has the membrane been taking care of and ask for the performance report so you know what it test. Dont want anything that test less then 85 90 %

Anything used will be cheaper. There are risks buying used. New should have some warranty and tech support. This site is pretty good tech support. YOU have to compare used price to your level of comfort, including your mechanical ability, with risks of a used machine vs new price. I would not worry about seals. 2 years ago I bought a 1986 RO that I had to put new bearings in the high pressure motor in the middle of the season. Bearings were off the shelf and available locally. Back together within a couple of hours. Membrane is not really the expensive part of machine. If current membrane has more than a couple of years of use I would replace it anyway
