Sticky buns recipe

MY great aunt used to make and sell the best sticky buns, unfortuneatly, no one has the recipe, maybe there never was one on paper. They were about 6" high in a pan of eight, with only sticky stuff on the bottom and sides, She didn't roll and glaze them, I think she rolled them under so the bottom was " rough" and flipped them onto waxed paper to let the gooey stuff run down the sides, and the top was smooth. I can still remember the smells coming from her kitchen. She was somewhat of a legend to the tourists around here. I would like to try and make some sticky buns, if anybody has a family favourite they would share, that would be very nice.
