Hello all, I'm thinking about making a steamaway type unit for my 2x8. Does anyone know what typical hole size and spacing are?

thanks in advance for the help,

Scott

Scott,
There are several variations on this. In the WRU (Water Reduction Unit) that I built I have 10 tubes that are about 1.75 in dia that the steam travels through.
There is a post on here with some pictures too.

Thanks for the reply. I see now that my question was poorly written. (sorry bout that) What I intended to ask was about the size and spacing for the air holes that are drilled into bottom air injection tubes.

Thanks again, Scott

Scott,
I drilled 1/8 dia air holes at approx 2 in spacing in each of the 4 foot long air tubes. So I ended up with 23 holes per tube I think.
Some folks point them up, I pointed them down just to be different.:)
How are you coming on the steam away?
Sorry I haven't been on much lately! Consumed with my other hobby! Cub Cadets.

Thanks Chris! That's what I was looking for. I think I'll put holes on the bottom also - seems to me that it would drain/clean better with holes on the bottom.

I've not done any work on it, it's still in the concept/sketch phase.

Scott,
Keep us posted. I felt it was a big project doing the WRU ( steam away type) unit.
Took me longer than planed:)
