Well Collins - If You are an example of America's 16 Year olds - I guess their is hope for us yet. As once said "If You do not learn from History - History repeats itself". That applies in many ways. I understand what you are saying, and believe me I wouldn't have posted the original post if I wasn't concerned. At the same time we have to be able to joke around a little also, otherwise they win. I didn't vote for anyone in the present administration nor will I ever. I also didn't vote for any of the bigger jokes that are representing the State of Vermont in the Senate or the House. Having said this, I think voting in Obama was the best thing that has happened to this country in a while, because now we have exposed the Democrats for what they really are. They spend with no limits, want to take our freedoms away and tax the hell out anybody that is willing to work and the list goes on.

It is a slow day in a damp little American town. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a gay rich German tourist is driving through the town, stops at the local hotel and lays a 100 dollar bill on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the gay visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the 100 dollar bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.
The butcher takes the 100 dollar bill and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer takes the 100 dollar bill and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel.
The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the 100 dollar bill and runs to pay his drinks bill at the pub.
The bar keeper slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit.
The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the 100 dollar bill.
The hotel proprietor then places the 100 dollar bill back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything.
At that moment the gay traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the 100 dollar bill, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town.
No one produced anything. No one earned anything.
However, the whole town is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism.

Want to know why August 2nd is the big day? Because on August 3rd the social security and welfare checks go out. Now what I don't understand is we are told that s.s. is funded through something like 2037, yet the checks won't go out if the debt ceiling isn't raised. You can call that FINANCIAL TERRORISM. It also tells me that the s.s. fund has long since been stolen. The current funding for the Treasury is being looted from government pension funds. There is legislation all prepared to go after private 401k's and IRA's to fund the government and if the ceiling is not raised, some form of that mentioned could certainly be brought to the surface.

I say let the whole stinking thing go down!! Its going to anyway, might as well be this year instead of next. All that is being done now is they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

LOL I dont think it is such a bad thing to find a little humor on such a topic. Sometimes its the only way I can deal with the antics the government is throwing at us. I get so pizzed off about political bs that is thrown at us americans its nice to lighten up the topic a bit but dont let anyone think that Im not upset about any of it cause I am. There are just a few things that keep me here and we all know NY is not the best state to be in right now with its liberal ways of trying to destroy this state as well. It is truly sad when an american is sitting on the fence debating with his family if its time to get out. When such passions as a family tradition of producing maple syrup on land that was developed by your great grandfather and a country with such vast opportunities for fisherman and hunters amongst other things is starting to take a backseat to more appealing places to live with less family heritage and oppotunities.
