The dumb answer would be it stands for Right On but it actually stands for reverse osmosis. Other words instead of taking the solids from water it keeps the sugar from sap and gets rid of the water in order to concentrate the sugar. and shorten the time it takes to boil it down to syrup. Usually it takes 2% sap to 8% or even 20% if you pass it thru more then once or twice.Every time you double the % point it cuts the voulume by half.
