2x3 Pan--What Boil Rate?

Hi All:

Ihave been reading and the more I read, the more confused I get with calculations. Seems people use different ways to calculate.

I have a 2 x 3 (24" x 37") pan, and will be boiling over a hot fire.

Under best conditions, what can I expect for a boil rate?

I read in an older post to figure about 1.5 or a little more for every sq. foot of pan.So if this is so you may get 9 or 10 gph with ideal conditions.I boiled on a 37" x 37" pan with pre heater and hood and maybe got 12 gph or a little more on perfect days.Hope this helps.

a 2x3 pan you would probaly get 4-6 gallons an hour

I agree with 4-6 gal/hr. I currently have a 2x3 and could never get it any higher.

LOL your never going to get 9 to 10 out of a 2x3 flat pan. If you hit 5 your doing awesome.

Leader claims their half pint (has 2'x3' pan) will do 4 gpm. I KNOW of some 2'x3' pans out there that are achieving double that with a very hot fire with blowers feeding it.

I have a 2X3 flat pan I can get about 6 out of. My buddy, however, can get 9. I asked him how he does that. He said, "Easy--it's your wood!!" We do have 2 blowers feeding a lot of air into it.

I have a 2x3 divided flat pan from Patrick and I get 12 GPH! I also have a home made arch that is giving me 1,800 degree + stack tempertures.:o I was hoping for 8 GPH when I built it but it actually does 12.

I guess I stand corrected. Dont know how any of you can get those rates on a 2x3. I had a 2x7 flat pan setup and If I ever got anywhere near 15 it was a miracle.

i got a non-standard set up, 2x3 divided flat pan whit a 2x2 drop flue, and i reach 18-20 us gph depend on how fast i refuel ach.
