I noticed a lot of stainless drums for sale. Why? Is the 40 gallon the only drum being accepted?

No we are just switching to 40 gallon drums. Both I and maplecrest have the same barrels (30's) and are just selling them to buy 40's. For me its a matter of making my life a little easier. I was making 60 gallons per hour this year, I plan on pushing this to 80+ for next year. At the rate I will need 3 barrels per hour. With 40's it drops down to 2. For me I am a one man band so if I have to get and wash one less barrel per hour its worth it to switch over. Nothing wrong with the 30's whatsoever. I love them, they are actually the perfect size to handle, but the amount of them that I am handling is just going to be to much. I would go to 55's but I used some this year and they darken in the barrel about half a grade so they are not for me.

Weird that the 55's darken the syrup. Not to mention they weight too much for a guy to handle by himself.

Because of the shear mass of hot syrup, it stays hot much longer and keeps cooking. With a barrel cart they are not hard to move around at all. If they did not change the grade I would use them exclusively.

Thad,
What is the tare on the drums you are selling?

32-33 is the tare. They are currently all spoken for. They are great barrels.
