That could be pretty dangerous unless you really know what you are doing. It could flash to steam and really hurt someone. I pretend to know what I am doing and I wouldn't try it!
Many of us get a couple of gallons an hour of hot water as condensate off the preheater in a hood. You could run a loop of water through a heat exchanger in the hood as well and hold it in a tank.
Do you have pressurized water in your sugarhouse already?

I won't try to pretend that I know what I'm doing, but I know some folks who do. A friend of mine has a heat exchanger that is retrofitted into his woodstove at home. To deal with the risk of flashing to steam it is plumbed into a hot water heater which has a safety blowout valve. I think it came as a kit. I think it was pretty straightforward to install. If you are interested I could ask him about it, unless someone on here chimes in.
what are you looking for hot water for. THere are alot of hot water style heaters used for camping. they have a reservoir and run off of the 1lb propane tanks. They heat up fast. Most have a shower head on them but I am sure you could retro it to a faucet.

THANKS for comments..I know that emergency pressure relief needs to be very close to heat exchanger..if your friends came from a kit it must be set up that way.
thanks for the comments. I have light presured cold water coming in from a spring. I need it to clean things as i go and to help clean filters.
i may look into the propane fired units suggested, thanks folks.

As soon as Adk1 mentioned those small propane units I realized how perfect that would be, great idea. Our local nursery sells them for about 125 bucks, and they seem great. I think the ones she sells need like 8 psi, but they seem like a great way to get hot water out there.

THANKS motow, i think i have 8lbs pressure from my spring, it has a pretty good head pressure for gravity..I like the idea of hood to harvest hot water, but many times i need the hot water when the boiler is not running like for clean up..

I have had the same needs and am currently setting up a small on demand lp hot water heater. This way you can have hot water when your arch is not fired up, anytime of the year for cleaning.
I just purchased one of these. If you go to their e-bay link you can see how they mount it on a hand truck with a 20 pound propane tank.
I am adding a rv pump to provide pressure. I will pull water out of a 50 gallon plastic food grade drum.
On demand water heaters have become common in camping and outdoor hobbies, small cabins.

I put a square tank high on the wall behind my stack . 30gal plus or minus . I ran a hose to fill it. I have ( 2) 3/4 copper lines out of the tank. One about 3/4 up from bottom and one on bottom. The one on bottom goes to the bottom of stack to a tee one side to drain tank or get water other side of tee goes into stack ( steel pipe )
then i put (2 ) tees and (2) 3/4 inch pipes in stack up and back out at level of other pipe on tank . Cold water drops , hot rises .
On the top pipe returning to tank i put a tee and ran it to my sink. Very hot water!!!!!!!!! You could put a third pipe out of tank and this would be a little cooler. You need to make sure you have water in pipes at all time when boiling. No need for pressure relief call my if you would like 207-225-2680
Well, I am glad that this Rookie could help out with a good idea for once!

Lowes has a small wall mounted unit if you have plenty of electric service available.

One of those would be cool for me. I already have running water to my sugarhouse.

I fill a sap bucket with water and set it so it leans against the stack. It is piping hot after about an hour of boiling. I dipper hot water out to wash filters then replace it w/ cold water so I always keep the bucket full.
