I am bricking my 2x4 wood fired and wonder if half bricks will be thick enough, the full bricks will bring my sides in to much and will block heat from the pan.on the edges any thoughts

Thanks Dick

Dick, I used the 1/2 brick in my barrel arch and it works fine.I used full as the bottom row and like you the full brick blocked the pan to much so I went with the 1/2's.This is my third season and no problems so far.

You got to remember the bricks are not any type of insulator no matter how thick they are. They are for protecting the arch or the ceramic blanket or the archboard from damage and burning out. I personally think full bricks are a waste of money on an arch. Insulate it good and put the splits over the insulation to protect it and your good to go.
