Went to the auction at w.f. supply over in vermont yesturday bid on 1000 health spots got them really cheap. Went to the bathroom came back and my dad bid on a bag of 5/16 quick disconnects about 125 and neither one of us really know were in the line to use them. I would strongly suggest going to that auction next year. I see a 5x5 syrup pan staimless welded with one dent in the rail go for 70 dollars. and all kinds of other stuff dirt cheap.

The 5/16" quick disconnects are nice if you have areas you need to take a tractor or piece of equipment thru the tubing but I would suggest you wrap them a few times with electrical tape after you install them because they chose to fail during the season with the extra weight of the sap in the lines and you have sapping running on the ground.
Doubt they would be anything but a vacuum leak on vacuum unless they were wrapped really good with electrical tape.

I have a couple laterals with quick disconnects on them and not had any problems as far as leaks or them breaking or need tape to seal them. They key is to take the stress off them by putting them on the loop between the saddle and mainline connection. Anywheres else I would be timid to use them.

One thing I found out about quick disconeects are that the ball in a cv won't go through it. I had a cituation where one got sucked out and it went through the tees ok but plugged the line when it got to the q.d.
