Woo hoo. Just in time. Wonder if we can still get the 10% discount on top of the lower cost or if they'll use the higher price.

I they are offering a 10% discount starting on Friday which is 5% from Leader and 5% from dealer which is the way 10% discount works. Not sure if it is on tubing and it would depend on your dealer if they would match if they are discounting tubing.

But it is still $5 higher than a year ago!

Man they have you figured out. Raise the price then drop it back down a dollar or two and we are happy. Man thats bull.

Considering it is a petroleum based product, I am surprised it went down.

Thad,

Isn't it time for you to put on your bee suit and sit outside with a shotgun?

Got an idea... fill the back of your PU up with donuts & muffins again!!!

Hope you had a good season - enjoy your bees & berries this summer!

From studying the new catalog looks like 30p dropped $1.00, but there Max flow grip dropped $13.00 and there max flow flex dropped $10.00.

Has anyone but out this Max stuff yet ? And what did you think ?

I put up 4 rolls of 30P last year liked it. But may try the Max Grip this year. hopeing to get up 1500 taps this summer.

It is getting to the point where Leader thinks they have us over a barrell; however, there are other mfg's out there whose prices on tubing is up to 20% cheaper than theirs and just as good. I have had a dealer tell me that they sold 70% less of Leaders tubing than in the past all because of the 10% jump in their prices last summer.

IPL, CDL, Lamb and Lapierre. Leaders tubing is anywhere from 12 to 25 dollars more a roll. They are the heaviest priced.

Considering it is a petroleum based product, I am surprised it went down.

The vagaries of plastic prices do "somewhat" follow petroleum, but have a longer lag time. Much of it depends upon whether a manufacturer locks-in a price with the supplier, and for how long. I do know that plastic prices spiked in the late-fall early-winter timeframe, and have since dropped a bit -- probably temporarily unfortunately.

Good question on the made in U.S.A. I'll pay a little more to help some of you out or us I should say.

Hey, I'm just happy to see it come down some... Hopefully it is the start of a trend... lol
Not holding my breath though.

Last tubing I installed was the lapierrie green sap line. I blends in with the woods a little better... Until someone makes a tube with real tree pattern on it...lol

Why would I want that? a vender asked me, when I picked up the green line.
So I can tap the neighbor's woods or the national forest... and they wouldn't know I was there...hehehe (joking by the way)

I was surprised too. I realized that there was some increase in raw materials to make the tubing but a 12% increase for 30P over last years price was a bit much. I wondered if they lost business because of the increase and if a dealer saw a 70% decrease in the sales of 30P, the price could certainly be a factor. I was thinking about looking at other brands of tubing for use next year but I may lose my taps because the ski area is looking into expanding into the area I tap, so I'm not buying much for supplies for another season.

I haven't seen any other tubing for $ 50 a roll which is current Leader price. I don't care for 30p but seems to be a good price now.

I got the pricing of Bascoms website who is a leader dealer. No sale showing there on leader tubing. It does show the 50 bucks on leaders sight.

It is $ 50 a roll in the new Leader catalog that came out 2 or 3 weeks ago.

i helped a friend put in some 30P 12yrs ago and it is still has a few years left in it. even for a lower price don't think I would put in 5yr tubing. I am hoping on a 10yr replacement schedule and I know the 30p will last that long

Randy,

Who is selling Lapierre 5 year tubing for that as that is what I use in the clear and I love it and I think it will last a lot longer than 5 years.
