I.M.O. ,acid or vinegar is for dissolving nitre, so for black spots I use scotchbright pads and elbow grease.

Hi, I'm new to the Maple Trader. I must say the questions and anwers are very helpful. My question is, what is the best way to remove nitre from my pan thanks.

A couple solutions mentioned in the prior post. I've also used permeate from an RO or condensate successfully. Works best for me if you heat it, then recirculate it somehow. But I had some burning last week, and even acid didn't touch it. Spent 3-4 hours scrubbing!
