YAHOOO! Today was the day. It started early with only 20 more gallons of sap to make some syrup from the 100+gallons boiled yesterday to "sweeten the pans" not too long into the morning I was drawing off and finishing on the turkey fryer. What a great day! I am wondering what grade you all think I may have made on the first try, (luck and sugar content I know) just wondering???https://picasaweb.google.com/103968764779354846524/Syruping2011?feat=directlink

Isn't it an awsome feeling after all that hard work seeing the fruits of your labor!!

It sure looks like you made some light amber there to me.

It also looks like the mason evap is working really good for you.

By the way now you need to try and make some maple candy for the little helpers that you have!;)

Hay nice job, we live in the same region i think.
we live down wind from you, just north of Marquette michigan.
how is your weather? Ours is crapy- two feet of slushy wet woods. I'm not sure i want to collect today. are things better your way?
I like your labels too.

Hello captain niko! We have 39* currently, very little snow (THANK GOD) but windy and no freeze last night. Looking forward to later in the week, I pray that it will freeze at night, so I can gather MORE SAP! I will definitely increase my taps next year to maybe 100. The addiction begins……………..

YIKES! My first year and the initial investment kind of took it's toll. I am hoping that the "sugar shack" will be this summer's investment and that I will be set for awhile.
