is it bad when you make you stack gauge go past 1000 and up the other side like a speeo on a car (I have never done that):D

Only bad when you have rafters within a foot of the stack. :)

Cover all the sugaring wood around the stack with 1" ceramic blanket.

Cover all the sugaring wood around the stack with 1" ceramic blanket. I have a couple of spots near my roof jack it is within a few inches. 1'' ceramic blanket do the job keeping it from igniting?

I have everything within a couple of feet of my stack covered with 1" ceramic blanket. If you cover it good with 1", I would think it would be safe up to 2 or 3 inches away. If it is real close and you're not comfortable, use 2 layers and it would definitely be safe.
