I am looking to build another evaporator with some improvements over my last one.
Does anyone know where I can find a piece to weld on that accepts the chimney stack at the back of the evaporator? On woodstoves and such it's usually a cast iron collar --- the raised ring that the stack is inserted into / on...?
On my current evaporator, I tool some flat stock and bent it into a circle that fit a 6" stack, but I would like to find a "smoother" solution!
Thanks!

If you have the time look onto finding the cast section from an old evaporator then you could use a base stack to fit over it. having a wide base stack will help you get a wider heating pattern in the back of the pan. If you use round stack it has to bring the heat all to the center to exit. you could check with some of the dealers around. many times they take old stuff in trade and then can't sell it

well if your just looking for a regular stovepipe attachment rather than a base stack then just get a short scrap of 6 inch steel well casing or black iron pipe thats what i have used on every woodstove i have made, altho on my small woodstove it was 4 inch pipe, the stovepipe slides right into the inside perfectly!

The neighbor wi sugarpop, found an old/junk Ben Franklin stove that had a sweet cast iron collar with a flat base and an 8" outlet.

Thanks for the information!
I didn't think about the base stack idea to spread the heat rather than concentrate the heat going directly into a 6" diameter stack.
It looks like I might have another modification to put on!

Some Franklin style stoves have a tapered cast iron collar. My first home made arch had the doors off a Franklin Stove on the front and the cast collar. Worked slick.
