I'm curious where people are at compared to last year, as i am set to pass last year's syrup total tomorrow (~180 gallons). I did add 7% more taps, but was just figuring that would offset the loss due to the rest of my taps being 1-2 years old instead of mostly brand new.

I'm guessing since last year was so poor, some of you have already made more syrup this year, so lets hear some reports.

Made about 40 gallons so far, only made 16 last year and will probably be around 50 by the end of the season.

I have almost doubled the 3.5 gallons I made last year. Not bad for 70 taps

So far 7.5 gal from 24 taps. Last year was 6 gal total. Probably get another 1.5 this weekend then call it quits. Both seasons were good for me, but I wish I could have broken the 10 gallon barrier!

Last year we finished about 2 gallons with 40 buckets. This year we added about 50 extra buckets and we have finished 7 gallons of syrup so far. Still a lot of sap to boil. Hopeful to finish over 10 gallons.

Hit the seven gallon mark yesterday. Maybe another 1 1/2 gal. tomorrow. Sap is just starting to run halfway decent at my place. Still not the best runs we've had.

We haven't had time to add it up, but I think we're at around 30 gallons now. We made 3 gallons tonight, and we'll make a couple more tomorrow.

We have had the best year by far since our start in 2005. We had 81 taps out. We have collected just shy of 900 gallons of sap! We could have had a lot more this week but we had bigger fish to fry (work). The kids and I untapped on Tuesday. We have put up 14 gallons so far and we will make around 4 today. We still have over 200 gallons to boil down.

I really don't know for sure yet, bottled a bunch, sold a bunch, still have to bottle some, etc. But everything is counted for and when I get a minute to read my notes I've been taking all season ill have a better answer. But I'm guessing somewhere around 60 or so. And still a lot left to make. This is the most we have ever made, but we have a lot more taps out too, and we added vac. To some. So we haven't made as much as I had hoped at this point but I'm hoping ill be surprised once I start adding things up. I'm just hoping to beat our best syrup/tap average .19. But there is still plenty of snow in the woods and the trees aren't even close to budding, so there is still syrup to make. Good luck everyone.

Don't have a good total so far on syrup but were just under 12,000 gallons of sap.

We pulled the taps and I think we'll end up making around 35 gallons when all is said and done. That's our best year ever. And it was a pretty intense year of boiling. Last year we had the same number of boils in 6 weeks as we had in 3 weeks this year! It was fast and furious, or short and sweet.

Welcome to MapleTrader, hotfire!

Are you still boiling? I'd like to stop by sometime. I also have some interest in your evaporator. I posted some questions for you under your Classified Ad.

Made 31 gallons on our 2x4 Mason Flat Pan. 1200 gallons sap, 3 cord mixed softwood, 120 hours boiling. Pulled taps on 4/3, firewood just about gone. Delivered syrup to landowners. Now on to getting the gardens ready.

Done for the season, out of wood and too muddy to haul across the lawn.
Haven't totaled up yet. Still have some finishing off to do this week should end up with about 26-27 gallons, and only burned 1 1/4 cords of wood. Best season I've had. Will definitely have more wood next season.

Everything is cleaned up and ready for next year, made 72 gallons this year. I really need to get a filter press, so sick of waiting for syrup to pass through filters. Over all very good year in S.W. Wisconsin

85 gallons so far and the sap is still coming in clear. I made 5 gallons of light today for the first time this season. It has gone back and forth from dark to medium all season and now near the end it is light. go figure, seams backwards to me and I have processed it in the same manner all season. Still about 18 inches of snow in the woods and the buds are small, so I am going a few more days on the vac. taps.

My first season of boiling my own sap netted 5 gallons of syrup from 205 gallons of sap. I put 5 quarts of the syrup into candy. Nothing like the totals for most of you, but it kept me busy and was a succesful first year.

Finally totaled every thing up. Ended with 30 gallons, 15 med and 15 dark. Best season ever. Ratio was 40.6-1. Will have 3-4 cords of wood next year. Already purchased a 500 gal milk tank, and picking up a new 100 gal feeder tank next week. The sugaring bug is growing.
