A young man by the name of Kevin Hieden from Perkinsville VT. had collected 6,200 gal of sap as of last saturday Jan 14th and was boiling according to one of our local newspapers. The story was in mondays edition of the Eagle Times (www.eagletimes.com).
Hieden said, sap had been running good, it was running about 70 to 1 sugar. He hoped to make 80 to 100 gal of syrup acording to the article.

Are we late or is he early? Time will tell!!

Can't even imagine tapping now, but the last week or two have been perfect weather with no end in sight.

Yikes, I don't know.... 8O

Very interesting article....poor trees are trying to send food to the leaves. I wonder if that compromises the amount of the sugar available for regular spring time runs. And even then, another hole has to be bored.

Poor trees must get confused......(or do I have it all wrong??) :?
