I sweetened my pans and they have been sitting since last sunday. I got back to the shack tonight and the flue pan is cloudy......

should I dump it or is it still okay??? It doesn't smell, and tastes sweet.....

any thoughts???

Make syrup with it. It will probably be on the dark side but it will taste good.

thanks 3rd Gen

I took another look at it this morning and it isn't good, over the night it started to bubble up little bubbles and sounds like rice krispies...

we had a cold spell come thru Minnesota and temps dropping below 0 and I was worried about the pans freezing and splitting the flues so we kept a fire in another wood stove in the shack and it was too warm.

I should have just emptied the pan into some pails and let it freeze,

I hate tossing it out but I don't want to risk messing up any more sap or syrup, its a 2x4 raised flue pan and the level is just above the flues. it is a shame to loose the sweetened pan but live and learn.
